1. REGISTRATION AND PAYMENT:
Registration and payment for the BLS Instructor Course MUST be received prior to class date. Class confirmation, directions, and study materials are sent by email once registration and payment have been received. Advanced preparation is required, because the BLS Instructor Course covers a lot of material in a relatively short time – only one day.

Register early, classes fill up quickly.

2. TEXTBOOK/ MANUAL POLICY:
Every Instructor MUST have the BLS for Healthcare Providers Instructor Manual (90-1036). AHA policy states, "Each student must have current, appropriate textbook readily available before, during and after the course." AHA materials may be supplied by the Instructor’s Training Site. Check with Training Site prior to purchasing any textbooks.

The BLS Instructor Manual may be purchased for a fee of $42. The Manual will NOT be mailed, but may be picked up prior to or at time of class. The BLS Instructor Manual MUST be brought to the class.

In addition, every Instructor who teaches HeartSaver classes must have the HeartSaver Instructor Manual. The new HeartSaver Instructor Manual, #90-1029 is called HeartSaver First Aid CPR AED Instructor Manual. It covers the following new courses:

• Heartsaver CPR AED
• Heartsaver First Aid
• Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED

It does not cover Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid, Heartsaver CPR in Schools, or Family & Friends as it did previously. Heartsaver Pediatric First Aid and Heartsaver CPR in Schools are not being updated in 2011 and can continue to be taught using the current Heartsaver Instructor Manual (#80-1077).

The Heartsaver First Aid CPR AED Instructor Manual may be purchased for a fee of $55. The Manual will NOT be mailed, but may be picked up prior to or at time of class. The HeartSaver Instructor Manuals both old and new are optional.

REMEMBER: Manuals will NOT be mailed, but Manuals may be picked up prior to or at time of class.

3. CORE INSTRUCTOR COURSE (CIC):
Every Instructor is required by AHA to complete the Core Instructor Course (80-1050 7/06) once. This course must be taken by all first time Instructors prior to taking a discipline-specific instructor course - BLS, ACLS, or PALS. If a renewing Instructor has NOT taken the course, it is required. The Core Instructor Course Workbook with the CD-ROM may be purchased for a fee of $35. The CIC Workbook may be picked up prior to class, or will be mailed for an additional $5 when registration is received. The CIC Workbook MUST be completed prior to the BLS Instructor Course, including the printing of the CIC Completion Certificate. The CIC Completion Certificate MUST be brought to the class.

REMEMBER: The CIC Workbook may be picked up prior to class or will be mailed for an additional $5. Please allow sufficient time to complete the 6-8-hour CIC Workbook.
